Holy Blood begins with a wedding and a war and progresses to more normal circumstances for the Order of the Red Cross of Gold as Sir Mark Andrew Ramsay, Knight of Death, finally defeats Semiramis' curse and restores the Order to a simpler time, hoping to find a bit of peace for himself. The Order moves back to the restored Villa in Southern Italy and leaves Scotland to Ramsay and his family. In the meantime, the Ancient Evil has dropped out of sight leaving the powers of the Abyss worried about where he might pop up next. Simon makes an effort to reconcile his differences with his eldest son and Luke Matthew takes Merry on a trip to Texas to visit the orphanage.

I am in awe at how these books just keep getting better and better. I finish one and say Wow that was a great book! and then I read the next and say Wow THAT was really a great book! # 22 delivered the same impact. In fact, the last quarter had me on the edge of my seat and completely fixated.We have Knights that are Templars who are Immortal and some are over 800 years old, that fight Dragons, and visit the Underworld, and the Abyss, and there are Dark Powers in the form of the Lord of the Abyss and the Queen of the Abyss, and Boggans, and Dubukymm, and Shogoshim, and Imogee, and tons of Magick and Spells, but lets not forget the Elves, Faeries, claurican, and oh there are also the Djinnis, and a man that can turn himself into an eagle or serpent, and a Dragon that talks to men and is in love with a "man", and this "man" is nothing short of an Angel, and now an Ancient One is on the loose, with a Scorpion King helping him, and another prior ruler of the world trapped in a foreign body, and NOW we get vampires. Only one author can have all this excitement and bring it all together in a nice tight little package that keeps you begging for more. My life seems boring compared to this series.

Good reading how can it get more complex
Mr. Carroll is a very smart writer..I have read up to this one and will Finish the rest. They are genius!!! The characters are amazing..
